Current Reading (09/12/2024)
Thanks to the new Netflix show, the Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu has entered into the public consciousness in full force. We at the Soliverse could not help but take notice, and are now about two-thirds of the way through the book. We have sincerely enjoyed the allusions to how scientific progress is communicated; we have been wondering if Liu has given Thomas Kuhn a read. One of our highlights so far is the way the author explains how logic gates work. We in the Soliverse are soil people, and are not particularly adept at computer science, so gaining insight into the fundamentals of computer engineering was both unexpected and stimulating. This is a truly great work of modern scifi, and any enjoyers of the genre should endeavor to give it a read.
